Driscoll Voted To Top-10 Assistant Hoops Coaches List By Peers
May 5, 2008
WACO, Texas - Baylor assistant basketball coach Matthew Driscoll has been voted the No. 9 assistant coach nationally in a survey of coaching professionals conducted and published by FoxSports.com. FoxSports.com released last weekend a ranking of 20 high-major and 10 mid-major coaches from its poll of more than 450 coaches and basketball professionals. Of Driscoll, FoxSports.com senior basketball writer Jeff Goodman wrote: "The 43-year-old spent six years under Larry Shyatt -- five at Clemson and one at Wyoming -- before hooking up with Scott Drew. In fact, Driscoll was at Valparaiso with Drew for a matter of weeks before heading to Waco and helping orchestrate one of the most impressive turnarounds in recent memory." Driscolll is in his sixth year in Waco and has played an integral role in Baylor's remarkable rebound that resulted in the Bears' fourth-place finish in the Big 12 in 2007-08 and the program's first NCAA Tournament berth in 20 seasons.
