Equestrian to Ride for Championship

Manhattan, Kan. - The Baylor equestrian team avenged two prior losses to Texas A&M this season and advanced to the championship round of the Central Championships on Saturday at the Fox Creeks Farm in Manattan, Kansas.

Baylor posted a 10-6 win over the Aggies in the four-team competition and will now face Oklahoma State, an 8-7 winner over host Kansas State, in the championship round on Sunday.

Baylor rode to a 6-2 victory in Hunter Seat competition, sweeping Equitation Over Fences with wins by Nicole Brown, Kendra Vicary, Mary Smitson and Beth Banister. Vicary's score of 80 was the best by a Baylor rider for the day. The Bears added two points in Equitation on the Flat when Heather Healy and Shelby White each earned a point.

The two squads rode to a 4-4 tie in Western events with Nicole McCoy and Lindsay Douglas posting Horsemanship wins and Madelyn Mooney and Valtie Riddle winning in Reining.
