Soccer Hosts Spring Tournament, Clinic
April 9, 2008
The Baylor soccer team will host its Play For Hope Tournament on Saturday, April 12 with three games that day. The Bears will face Trinity at 9 a.m., TCU at 11 a.m. and "This weekend is our last chance to play some games this spring, and so it will be a great opportunity for our girls to continue the great strides we have made thus far," head coach Marci Jobson said. Following the last game, the team will hold a clinic (boys and girls) from 4:30-6 p.m. with all proceeds going to the nonprofit DiscoverHope Fund, a service to create sustainability and opportunity for women in poverty.
"Our girls are very passionate about this charity and have really bought into it," Jobson said. "This is a great chance to combine a great sport like soccer with a great cause." The preferred cost of the clinic is $20, but it is not a mandatory fee, and all proceeds go directly to Discover Hope. Additional donations will be accepted at the games and the clinic. There will also be a raffle for $5 a ticket to win a USA Women's national Team jersey and other prizes. To register for the clinic please send participants name, age, phone number, and address to playforhope@gmail.com or call 254-710-3092.
