NO REASON TO SLOW DOWN

Somewhere in the back of their minds was the memory of Baylor's 2-2 draw with Texas State a year ago, when the Bobcats scored the tying goal with just 11 seconds left on the clock. Not this time.

“Ty is definitely a game-changer, but also someone who believed in the vision we had for the program. And not everybody was able to see that at first. After that first year, four wins, for her to say, ‘Hey, I believe in what you guys are doing, and I believe what you’re saying can truly happen.’ I’ll be forever grateful for Ty doing that.”

NOT SATISFIED

Michelle Lenard refuses to believe that her 23rd-ranked Baylor soccer team is complacent or satisfied with just making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

CHIP ON HIS SHOULDER

Rather than announcing the three finalists on Tuesday, maybe the Burlsworth Trophy committee should just go ahead and hand the award to receiver/punt returner Josh Cameron. The former walk-on from Cedar Park, Texas, had career highs with 13 catches for 165 yards, scored twice and added two punt returns for 27 yards.

My Baylor Story: Ella Perry

Although she grew up in Baylor's backyard, Ella Perry had always envisioned going out of state for college. Maybe even one of the military academies with her sister at the Naval Academy and her brother going to West Point. With her dad deployed to Afghanistan and her siblings away for college, that left Ella and her mom at home, "just us two."

FROM WALK-ON TO HALL OF FAME

Like a traveling door-to-door salesman, Derek Turner took his football highlight reel from tiny Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Okla., hit the road and went to school after school, just "trying to figure out who would take me."

BENCH MOB

"I like how we don't get rattled through adversity, and we all believe in each other," guard Isaac Williams said, who was 5-of-8 from the floor and hit his only 3-point attempt. "If they go on a little run or whatever, we know we're still in it. And we're always going to be in it, no matter the time of the game. Just us believing and fighting through adversity."

DEFENSIVE SPECIALIST FONTLEROY

Named to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team a year ago, Bella Fontleroy has never averaged double-digit points in her career at Baylor. But if Sunday's game (vs. Lindenwood) was any indication, that might change.

SOCCER IS DANCING

After a stellar regular season and Big 12 tournament semifinal finish, Baylor soccer received its seventh bid in program history to the NCAA Division I Soccer Championship and for the first time in the Michelle Lenard era.

Kubacha went on a mission trip to Costa Rica in August, got baptized the next month and is now going through the eight-week iDisciple program for student-athletes who "want to take the next step in their faith and service to the Lord."
