WACO, Texas - The Oklahoma softball team's long ball hitters accounted for four of the Sooners' eight runs in their 8-1 victory over Baylor in Waco. The sixth ranked Sooners extended their season record to 51-6 and 15-1 in the Big 12 while Baylor is now 22-28 on the season and 2-10 in conference action.

Oklahoma got on the scoreboard immediately. Left fielder Christy Ring led off the top of the first with a double down the left field line. After Erin Evans fouled out to left field, Lisa Carey singled to shortstop. Ring and Carey then scored on catcher Ashli Barrett's double to right center.

Baylor catcher Ryan Stukel belted her fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the second to give the Bears their only run of the series.

The Sooners added two more in the fourth on back-to-back home runs to Mandy Fulton and Kelli Braitsch. One more run crossed in the fifth when Ring and Evans singled and Andrea Evans lined out to Baylor shortstop Stacey Hundley. Hundley caught Evans off the bag at second and Ring scored from third on the double play.

Oklahoma tallied three runs on two more homers in the seventh. Carey led off the inning with a solo homer to left field. Then with Carey on third, Braitsch hit her second round tripper of the game, a shot over the centerfield fence, for two RBI.

Oklahoma's senior pitcher Lana Moran limited Baylor to three hits, struck out three and walked none en route to her 20th victory of the season while Baylor freshman Joni Miller dropped to 10-10. Miller lasted 3 2/3 innings before yielding to freshman Sarah Caudle.

The Bears travel to Lubbock for a doubleheader on Monday, April 24 against Texas Tech. They then return home to host Texas A&M in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 25. The first pitch will be thrown at 5:00 pm. This will be the final home game for Baylor's two seniors Carrie Arn and Heather Williams.
