LUBBOCK, Texas - Kliff Kingsbury threw for 373 yard and three touchdowns as Texas Tech defeated Baylor 62-11 Saturday.
Tech's backup quarterback B.J. Symons added three more touchdowns passes after replacing Kingsbury midway through the third quarter. Running back Foy Munlin scored his first two touchdowns of the season.
Tech (6-4, 3-2 Big 12) moved the ball easily against the Bears' defense, which gave up 654 yards.
Baylor (3-6, 1-4) also struggled on offense, although Aaron Karas completed 23 of 35 passes for 254 yards.
Kingsbury, who injured his right ankle slightly in the first quarter and hobbled until coming out, broke the NCAA Division I-A record for career passing attempts. Kingsbury has 1,696, 17 more than Louisville's Chris Redman.
Earlier this year, Kingsbury became the 20th quarterback to throw for 10,000 yards. Saturday's performance moved him to No. 8 on the list with 10,969 yards.
After struggling in its first two possessions, Tech scored on its next four to take a 28-3 lead at the half. On the Red Raiders' final drive of the half, Kingsbury completed four straight passes for 30, 16, 6 and 22 yards to get Tech down near the goal line. Two plays later, Munlin scored his second TD from 1 yard out with 31 seconds left.
Kingsbury completed nine of his first 10 passes of the second half, finishing the flurry with a 6-yard TD pass to Mickey Peters to put the game out of reach.
The Red Raiders started the game with an onside kick that they recovered, but they failed to score as Robert Treece's 46-yard field attempt fell short.
