WACO< Texas - The No. 8 ranked Baylor men's tennis team won its eighth straight match of the season by defeating Boise State, 5-2, at Ennis, Texas on Friday night. The match was moved from Waco to Ennis due to wet conditions at Baylor's Tennis Center.
For only the second time this season, the Bears lost the doubles point. However, they rebounded to take five of the six singles matches to secure the victory. Boise State took No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, both by scores of 8-6 to gain the doubles point. BU's Zoltan Papp and Nathan McGregor and Markus Hornung and Reiner Neurohr suffered losses to Marcus Berntson and Mark Roberts and Guillaume Bouvier and Imraan Ismail, respectively. Benjamin Becker and Matias Marin were the Bears' lone doubles victors, defeating Mahmoud Rezk and Matias Silva, 8-4.
In singles, Baylor sophomore Markus Hornung suffered his first loss of the spring season when he lost a three set match (7-6, 5-7, 6-2) to Boise State's Guillaume Bouvier at the No. 2 spot. It was Baylor's first loss of the season at No. 2 singles. The Bears' Zoltan Papp extended his winning streak to six matches with a three set victory over Mark Roberts (6-3, 3-6, 6-4).
