Baylor (10-1,1-0) won the doubles point in straight sets, which was led by Nathan McGregor and Markus Hornung, who defeated No. 32 Sestini/Gordon 8-3. Zoltan Papp and Benjamin Becker also had a fine day in doubles play by finishing off Daniel Scholten, and Alex Menichini 8-3. Reiner Neurohr and Matias Marin struggled at first but, ended up beating out Jacob Martin, and Daniel Wajnberg 8-6.
In singles action, the Horned Frogs were no match for the Bears. Baylor went on to beat TCU in straight sets on 5 courts. Marin came out slugging today by beating Wajnberg 6-2, 6-1, and Becker had no problems with Gordon in a 6-4, 6-3 match. Armando Carrascosa blanked Scholten in the first set, but struggled to hold onto the win 6-0, 7-5. Papp continued his dominance today as he started in the No. 2 spot for the first time this year. Papp defeated Sestini 6-4, 6-4. Neurohr bounced back from the loss in California to beat his opponent Jacob Martin, 6-3, 7-5. In the last match of the evening, Hornung and Menichini came down to the last set that was decided by rally points. Hornung lost 6-7(7-9), 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).
The Bears next game will be against Lamar at the Baylor Tennis Center at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. That match will be the first of a double header on Saturday when the Bears will meet Wichita State at 6:00 p.m. later that evening.
