No. 2 Men's Tennis Defeats No. 14 TCU

WACO, Texas - The No. 2 ranked Baylor men's tennis team posted a decisive 6-1 victory over the visiting No. 14 TCU Horn Frogs on Tuesday evening at the Baylor Tennis Center. The Bears are now 17-2 on the season leaving TCU at 13-3.

In doubles competition, the No. 23-ranked duo of Benedikt Dorsch and Matija Zgaga easily defeated TCU's Hector Almada and Jacopo Tezz 8-3 at the No. 1 position. At the No. 3 position Ivor Lovrak and Reiner Neurohr defeated TCU's Jacob Martin and Alex Menichini 8-4 to win the second of the three doubles matches and claimed the one point awarded for doubles. Baylor however was not finished; at the No. 2 position Benjamin Becker and Matias Marin battled back from 7-4 down to win 9-7 giving Baylor the victory.

First to finish, at the No. 6 spot, Baylor's Ivor Lovrak defeated TCU's Robert Gallmas in a quick 6-1, 6-0 to give Baylor a quick 2-0 lead. He was followed by Benedikt Dorsch who easily defeated Hector Almada 6-4, 6-1. Baylor's only loss of the day came next at the No. 3 position when No. 85 Matias Marin was upset by Fabrizio Sestini 6-4, 6-4. At the No. 4 position Matija Zgaga won a heated match against Jacopo Tezza 6-3, 6-4 and Benjamin Becker over came No. 41 ranked Alex Menichini 6-2, 6-3. The last match of the day was also won by Baylor as Reiner Neurohr defeated Robert Gallmas 6-4, 3-6 1-1 (10-5) in the tiebreaker.

The Bears face two more matches this week when they take on conference foes Nebraska and Texas A&M . The 7-7 Huskers come to Waco on Friday for a 6 p.m., match at the Baylor Tennis Center. Nebraska is winless so far this season in Big 12 action at 0-3. Saturday's 1:30 p.m., matchup with the No. 25 Texas A&M Aggies will be a showdown of undefeated Big 12 teams. The Aggies are currently 14-6 on the season (prior to a match at Tulsa today) and are 3-0 in league play. The contest will be held at the Aggies' George P. Mitchell Outdoor Tennis Center. Texas A&M is lead this season by the top-ranked doubles duo of Ante Matijevic and Lester Cook. In addition, Matijevic is ranked No. 9 in singles and Cook checks in at No. 20.
