WACO, Texas - The No. 7 Baylor men's tennis team won two in a row today at the Baylor Tennis Center sweeping Abilene Christian 7-0 and defeating No. 72 UT-Arlington 6-1.

The 2 p.m. Abilene Christian match proved to be a good warm-up for the Bears as they swept in both singles and doubles. Baylor's Matija Zgaga and Matt Brown led off with an 8-1 victory over Casper Steenkamp and Ryan Hudson in no. one doubles. Michal Kokta and Vladimir Portnov sealed the point defeating J.J. Nunez and Kevin Beedy 8-2 on court three.

In singles, Baylor continued to shut-out ACU with wins in all six spots. David Galic made his dual action singles debut in the no. six spot for Baylor earning the first singles victory of the match over Kevin Beedy 6-0, 6-2. The clenching match came when No. 12 Lars Poerschke defeated ACU's Hudson in a 6-1, 6-2 match.

The Bears started off the UT-Arlington match in the same manner winning on all three doubles courts. Ward and Galic quickly took down UTA's Manuel Gonzalez and Alberto Agis in an 8-1 victory. The No. 49 ranked tandem of Poershcke and Kokta defeated Sandy Farquharson and Daniel Omana 8-4 on the no. one court to seal the doubles point.

No. 59 Kokta shut out Agis 6-0, 6-0 to start off singles for the Bears. With this win, Kokta increases his winning streak to nine straight matches. He is one win away from his career long streak of 10 consecutive wins which he set between October 28, 2005 and January, 22, 2006.

No. 92 Portnov sealed the deal earning the clenching point in a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Ian Vazquez-Rowe on the no. five court.

The Bears only loss of the day came in Zgaga's super-tiebreaker match against UT-Arlington's Farquharson. The last match on the court, Zgaga won the first set in a 7-6 tiebreaker, lost the second set 7-6(7) in a tie-break and lost the match in the super-tiebreaker 10-6.
