The Baylor football team will take the field in 2009 with a new-look designed by Nike, head football coach Art Briles announced today.

The Bears, who had not made significant changes to their football uniforms since 2005, will now have three jersey colors to choose from, as well as two different colors of pants and two helmets. All told, Baylor will have 12 different uniform combinations (jersey/pant/helmet) at its disposal this season.

As in previous years, Baylor will still have green and white jersey options, but new in 2009 is a Vegas gold jersey top. The word Baylor returns to the jersey front above the numbers for the first time since 2004 and the interlocking BU logo will again be featured on the shoulders.

The Bears will have two colors of pants to choose from--Vegas gold and white. Both sets of pants will have a touch of green piping down the side as well as an interlocking BU on the upper right-side.

Baylor's traditional Vegas gold helmet will again be the Bears' primary headgear of choice, however, a white helmet will also be introduced in 2009. The white helmet features a green stripe down the middle, with green interlocking BU logos on both sides of the helmet. BU wore a green helmet for select games from 2005-07.

"Our players are excited about the new uniforms and are working hard this summer to have a great year on the field this fall," said Baylor head football coach Art Briles. "The players and equipment staff worked with NIKE to design a contemporary set of uniforms that would represent Baylor well and appeal to recruits."

Season tickets, which may be purchased for as low as $145 each for Baylor's six-game 2009 home schedule, are on sale now in person or by phone at the Baylor Athletic Ticket Office or on-line at baylorbears.com. Please note that the Athletic Ticket Office has permanently relocated to the Ferrell Center, as of July 1.

The Bears open the 2009 season Sept. 5 in a nationally televised game at Wake Forest with their home opener set for Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. against UConn.
