THE RUNDOWN
The top-ranked and defending national champion Baylor Acrobatics and Tumbling posted its fourth straight victory as it defeated No. 3 Hawaii Pacific (2-2) in Honolulu, Hawaii, Friday night. The Bears raised their season record to 4-0.
The Bears started off strong and never looked back. Baylor took the lead following the compulsory event 37.65-37.25. The Bears were edged by the Sharks in the acro event, but kept their overall lead 66.5-66.15. Baylor defeated HPU in the pyramid event and extended its lead to 96.25-93.70 going into the break. In the second half, the Bears controlled the toss event, 125.25-121.95 and continued to excel in the tumbling event to 181.325-177.175.
In the final event of the meet, the team event, Baylor sealed the victory, 271.335-267.335.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Bears won four of six events: compulsory, pyramid, toss and tumbling.
-Baylor scored a 29.75 in the pyramid event which is tied for fifth-highest all-time.
- Kiara Nowlin continued her strong season in the tumbling event with a score of 9.80 out of 10.00 in the 6-element pass.
- Baylor moved to 4-0 for only the second time in program history.
STAT OF THE DAY
The team of Kiara Nowlin, Lauren Sturm, Allie Alaman, Ceara Gray, Sydney Evans, Toni Bronisevsky, Jena Fisher, Kaelyn Cowan, Kelci Ortiz, Amanda Graceffa and Shayla Kelley scored a perfect 10 in the toss heat of the compulsory event.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Bears will head back to Waco for a tri-meet against Fairmont State University and Adrian College, their first tri-meet of the season. The meet will take place on Monday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m. (CT) at the Ferrell Center.
