STORY LINES
• Baylor leaves the state of Texas for the final time in the 2018 regular season with a road trip to No. 23 Iowa St.
• Saturday marks only the 2nd time ever Baylor has played four consecutive road games against a ranked opponent and the first time since 1977. It is only the 4th time BU has played four ranked road games in a season ('53, '77, '85).
• The Bears rank second in the Big 12 averaging 224.0 rushing yards per game in five home games.
• Baylor's 5 blocked kicks in 2018 leads the Big 12 and ranks 2nd nationally. BU has 7 blocks in last 21 games.
• Led by James Lynch (6.0), 12 different Baylor players have recorded a sack, second best in the Big 12.
Jalen Hurd ranks third nationally with 35 receptions of 10+ yards and seventh with 42 for first downs.
• Six Baylor players have started all nine games in 2018: Chris Platt, Sam Tecklenburg, Blake Blackmar, Pat Lawrence, James Lynch and Ira Lewis.

IOWA STATE SERIES HISTORY
• Baylor leads the all-time series 9-7 with the series tied 4-4 in Ames. The Bears have won their last two visits to Jack Trice Stadium in 2016 (45-42) and 2014 (49-28). BU won four straight overall from 2013-15.
• In 2016, Baylor trailed 42-28 entering the fourth quarter before rallying with 17 unanswered including a 19- yard field goal by Chris Callahan as time expired to earn the victory.
• The Bears have never faced a ranked Iowa State team in a series that dates back to 1988.

HISTORIC VICTORY AGAINST OSU
• Trailing 24-14 with 12 seconds remaining in the third quarter, QB Charlie Brewer entered the game with OSU for the first time and proceeded to lead the offense on three touchdown drives and a thrilling 35-31 win.
• It was the first win for Baylor when trailing entering 4th quarter since Oct. 1, 2016 at Iowa State (trailed 42-28 entering 4th, won 45-42).
• The victory was only the second time in McLane Stadium history the Bears came from behind to win in 4th quarter after BU's 61-58 victory over TCU on October 11, 2014.

EPIC EFFORT BY JOHNSTON VS. COWBOYS
Clay Johnston had a career day in Baylor's thrilling victory over Oklahoma State. The junior linebacker from Abilene had a career-best 17 total tackles, including 14 solo stops.
• Johnson's 14 solo tackles are the second-most by a FBS player in 2018 behind FIU's Sage Lewis (18).
• The junior tied Taylor Young (17, 2x) for the most in a game since Bryce Hager had 18 vs. K-State in 2013.
• Johnston is averaging 12 tackles over his last three games and has 59 on the season (9th, Big 12). He has 42 solo stops on the year, which is sixth-best in the conference.
• The third-year linebacker has 139 tackles, 15.5 TFL and 2.0 sacks in 29 career games (17 starts).
• For his efforts, Johnston was recognized as Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 5.

BEVY OF BAYLOR DEBUTS IN '18
• After ranking among the top teams in the country to feature freshmen in 2017, Baylor has continued to introduce new players into its lineups in 2018.
• Through nine games, Baylor has had 31 players make their first appearances in a Bears' uniform. That total includes 13 true freshmen (Kalon Barnes, Gerry Bohanon, Josh Fleeks, Connor Galvin, BJ Hanspard, Christoph Henle, Mark Milton, Christian Morgan, Bralen Taylor, Tyquan Thornton, Marje Smith, Craig 'Sqwirl' Williams and JT Woods).
• The Bears have also had 10 RS freshmen, one sophomore, two juniors, two seniors and three graduate transfers appear in a Baylor uniform for the first time. There have been 18 first time starters (six true freshmen).

BLOCK PARTY
• Over the last 21 games, Baylor has showed the ability to make plays on special teams including blocking kicks and punts. Below is a list of Baylor's seven blocks since the beginning of 2017.
• BU ranks first in Big 12 and second nationally in 2018 with five blocks. As a head coach, Rhule's teams have blocked 26 kicks since 2013 (2013-16 at Temple; 2017-current at Baylor).
• Baylor's five blocked kicks are the most since the team recorded five in 2009.

UP NEXT
• Baylor returns home to face rival TCU at McLane Stadium. In a series that dates back to 1899, TCU leads 54-52-7. BU holds a 34-31-5 advantage in games played in Waco. The game will also serve as Senior Day.
• Since TCU joined the Big 12 for the 2012 season, the series is in favor of the Frogs (4-2).
• Last season, Baylor jumped out to a 9-0 lead behind a safety and a 54-yard touchdown throw from Charlie Brewer to Blake Lynch. The Bears trailed 21-19 at the half and TCU outscored Baylor 24-3 in the second half in the final game of 2017.

OFFENSE ROLLING AT HOME
• The Baylor offense has excelled in the home confines of McLane Stadium. The Bears are averaging 36.0 ppg at home compared to 25.3 on the road.
• Baylor's average of 224 rushing ypg at home is second best in the Big 12. BU is averaging 231.6 ypg in three home conference games.
• The Bears are averaging 482.4 yards of total offense at home in five contests, fifth best in the Big 12.

CONTROLLING THE CLOCK
• One staple of Matt Rhule coached teams is controlling time of possession. After holding the ball for an average of 29:48 in 2017 (6th, Big 12), the Bears have put a great emphasis on possession in 2018.
• BU leads the Big 12 and rank 19th nationally with an average time of possession of 32:29 this season.
• Baylor had won the time of possession battle in five straight games until UT, and six of nine times in 2018. Baylor has controlled the ball 35+ minutes six times in last 21 games.
• The three games in 2018 where BU did not win time of possession were against ACU, Texas & OSU.
• The Bears have 13 scoring drives of 10 or more plays in 2018.

RHULE TEAMS IN THE FOURTH QUARTER
• In Matt Rhule's five seasons as head coach, he has sealed the deal when leading or tied entering the fourth quarter. In his career, his teams are 20-8 when posting a fourth quarter shutout.
• Rhule-coached teams have won 30 straight games when leading or tied entering the fourth, and are 31-4 overall. All four losses came in his first season as head coach at Temple in 2013.
• When leading entering the 4Q, he has won 28 straight and is 29-3 overall with all three losses in 2013.
• Baylor was 1-1 in 2017 when preserving a fourth-quarter shutout. The one victory was the Bears' road win at Kansas and the loss was a near-comeback win against West Virginia at home.
• Over the last three-plus seasons, Matt Rhule coached teams are 15-2 when recording a fourth-quarter shutout. Baylor has held Abilene Christian, Kansas and Texas scoreless in the final quarter.
• BU's second-half shutout of UT was the first under Rhule & the program's first in a B12 game since 2015 (at TCU).

REDZONE SUCCESS RATE
• Baylor has been impressive when venturing inside the opponent's 20-yard line in 2018, after struggling to score touchdowns in the red zone last season with only 18 touchdowns in 31 trips (45%). That percentage ranked 124th in FBS and last in the Big 12.
• The Bears are fourth in the Big 12 with a red zone touchdown percentage mark of 62.86% with 22 touchdowns on 35 red zone trips. The Bears have also kicked seven field goals for a 82.86% scoring tally.
• On the flip side, the Baylor defense has allowed the 3rd fewest red zone touchdowns (14) in the Big 12 and ranks fifth in opponent red zone TD conversion percentage (56%; 14-of-25).
• Baylor has scored a touchdown on 16-of-18 (88.9 percent) goal-to-go situations in 2018.

PASSING GAME SUCCESS IN 18
• Baylor is averaging 284.0 passing yards per game in 2018, the fifth-best total in the Big 12 (21st, NCAA).
• The Bears have seven receivers with more than 149 yards receiving led by Jalen Hurd's 756 yards (6th, B12). Hurd's 57 receptions are third in the league and rank 19th nationally. He has seven total touchdowns.
Denzel Mims ranks 11th in the Big 12 with 38 receptions and 13th with 564 receiving yards. He has 5 TDs.
• 14 different Baylor players have recorded a reception through nine games in 2018.
JaMycal Hasty is second among B12 running backs with 23 receptions on the season. He has 51 in his career.
