STORY LINES

• After opening Big 12 play with a three-game sweep at Texas Tech, Baylor takes a break from league action and travels to Provo, Utah, to take on BYU in a three-game series with the opener slated for Thursday night and a doubleheader scheduled for Friday afternoon.
• This is the second time in program history that Baylor has played in the state of Utah. The first time came in 2019 when BU took part in the Red Desert Classic, going 1-1 in a weather-shortened tournament.This weekend marks the first contest vs. BYU not at a neutral site.
• For the eighth time in program history, Baylor opened Big 12 play 3-0 (1999, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2021 with its sweep at Texas Tech. The Lady Bears outscored the Red Raiders, 18-6, on the weekend as Texas Tech came into conference play off back-to-back wins over Tarleton State where TTU outscored the visitors, 32-1.
• Baylor is currently riding a nine-game road winning streak and is 15-2 in road/neutral contests already this season, including ranked wins at No. 13 Louisiana (3/4) and No. 9 Arizona State (3/14). During the nine-game streak, BU is outscoring (67-17) and outhitting (91-49) its opposition.
• Gia Rodoni was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday after she went 3-0 on the week, including back-to-back wins in Lubbock to lead Baylor to a series opening sweep over Texas Tech to open Big 12 play. Rodoni picked up her 600th career strikeout in Friday's contest as she finished the week with a whopping 21 Ks compared to two walks. The Los Banos, Calif., native gave up three earned runs all week through 18 innings of work. In Sunday's thrilling extra-inning win in Lubbock, Rodoni matched her career high with eight innings pitched as she gave up one earned run off six hits with six strikeouts.
• For the first time since 2016 and the fourth time overall in program history (2004, 2014, 2016, 2021), Baylor has had multiple pitchers receive Big 12 weekly honors.
• Nicky Dawson is Baylor's all-time leader in career triples with 12 after ripping one to left center field against Louisiana Tech on March 7. The fifth-year senior outfielder now has five triples this season, a mark that ties her for first nationally. Dawson is now tied for second in program history for triples in a season alongside Kyla Walker (2017), Carrie Leerberg (2004) and Kelly Osburn (2005). Harmony Schwethelm had six triples in 2005.
• After 20 seasons as an assistant coach for the Lady Bears, Mark Lumley retired in October before he passed away in December after his fourth bout with cancer. The Baylor players and coaching staff will all be wearing blue ribbons in his honor. This season is for Lum.
