FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 9 Baylor men's tennis slayed No. 1 TCU on Friday night in Fort Worth, besting the Frogs 5-2. 
 
The Bears (18-2) won the doubles point and took the first set on all six singles courts in route to taking the win over the Frogs (16-3).
 
BU took down the No. 1-ranked team for the first time since March of 2011 when it bested Tennessee. 
 
THE RUNDOWN
Baylor started the match off hot, winning the doubles point after taking wins on courts two and three. It was Matias Soto and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi finishing first on court two, besting No. 3 Sander Jong and Lui Maxted, 6-4. Court one finished next, with No. 2 Luc Fomba and Jake Fearnley winning 6-2 over No. 30 Finn Bass and Sven Lah. Court three was the clincher for the doubles point, with Adrian Boitan and Tadeas Paroulek besting Juan Carlos Aguilar and Pedro Vives, 6-2.
 
The Bears took the first set on all six courts to kick off singles play. First to finish their match was Bass on court four, winning 6-1, 6-3 over No. 65 Fearnley. Next up was #15 Boitan on court one over No. 14 Aguilar, 6-3, 6-3. Next came Grassi Mazzuchi on court six, winning 6-4, 6-1 over Tomas Jirousek to clinch the match. 
 
On court five, Tadeas Paroulek bested Pedro Vives, 6-2, 3-6, 2-1 with Vives retiring. On court two, No. 18 Fomba bested No. 50 Soto, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5. Finishing out the match shortly after was No. 55 Jong, besting No. 31 Lah at 5-7, 7-6(6), 10-3.
 
NEXT UP
The Bears head south on I-35 to Austin to take on the Longhorns of Texas on April 1, with match time set for 6 p.m.
