WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis stays home for a doubleheader against Arizona State and Furman on Sunday. Action begins at the Hurd Tennis Center for the first match against the Sun Devils at 1 on the back courts, followed by the Paladins at 6 p.m. on the front courts.
 
BU (7-8) enters the weekend matchups at No. 32 in the computerized ITA rankings released Tuesday morning, up one spot from last week's rank.
 
The Bears stand 7-1 against Arizona State, already tabbing one win this season, 4-2, in the first round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend held in Waco at the Hurd Tennis Center.
 
Arizona State stands four spots behind the Bears at No. 36, with an 8-3 record after their first match of the road trip against the Oklahoma Sooners, taking a 5-2 loss.  
 
Furman and Baylor will play for only the second time in history, the first being a 5-1 win for the Bears in 1999. They open a Texas tour, facing Baylor, UTSA and UT Arlington over five days with a 4-7 record.
 
Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz received career-high doubles rankings of No. 10 for the second round of spring individual rankings, while Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi dropped six spots to No. 15. In the singles rankings, Bass leads the Bears in singles rankings at No. 46 and Paroulek moved up to No. 77.  
 
Paroulek and Velcz lead the team in wins this season at 10-1 with a perfect 3-0 record against ITA ranked opponents. Velcz also holds the most single wins this season, with eight.
 
Admission to the match is free and fans attending the ASU match will receive free sandwiches and Tiff's Treats, while supplies last, as well as bucket hats and a ticket for an AirPods drawing. The nightcap against Furman features a free pizza and entries into a cup and Bluetooth speaker drawing.
 
All matches will have results provided live online and Playsight will be streaming each court for the second match only on BaylorBears.com.
