OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – No. 19 Baylor Softball dropped its series opener against No. 1 Oklahoma, 8-1, Friday night at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.
THE RUNDOWN
Oklahoma battled early after sitting the Bears down in order in the top of the first and putting three on in the bottom half of the inning. After allowing a leadoff walk, catcher
Sydney Collazos caught the runner stealing to erase the threat.
OU plated its first run of the game in the bottom of the second, after two singles and a throwing error put the Sooners up 1-0.
Baylor battled back in the top of the fourth, when
Emily Hott led off the inning with bunt-single before stealing second and advancing to third on a wild pitch.
Abi Flores then singled through the left side to tie the game 1-1.
After working a scoreless bottom of the fourth, Oklahoma reclaimed the commanding 8-1 lead in the fifth after two multi-run home runs and a bases loaded walk.
Shaylon Govan singled up the middle in the sixth but that would be all for the Bears as OU would secure the win after sitting the Bears down in order in the seventh.
