Game Recap: Softball |
NORMAN, Okla. – No. 19 Baylor Softball fell in game one of the Saturday doubleheader against the Sooners, 12-3, before dropping game two, 7-4, at Love's Field.

THE RUNDOWN
Oklahoma scored first in game one after Baylor worked out of a jam in the first inning before allowing a two-run homer in the bottom of the second.

Emily Hott, who was on fire offensively, singled in the top of the first before moving to third on a stolen base and wild pitch, but after a walk was issued to Abi Flores to put runners on the corners, OU worked out of the threat.

Hott doubled in the top of the third before the Sooners made it a 3-0 ballgame in the bottom half of the inning off a solo shot to center field.

Baylor battled back to come within a run in the top of the fourth when pinch-hitter Zadie LaValley launched her first homer of the season over the wall in right field to make it a 3-2 game.

OU plated two more in the bottom half of the fourth to put the Sooners up 5-2 before BU got another run back in the top of the fifth on a solo shot from Hott. The left fielder was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle in game one.

The Sooners capitalized in the fifth, run-ruling the Bears after a two-run bomb, a single and a grand slam put OU up 12-3.

Oklahoma struck first in the second game of the day, plating one run in the bottom of the first before the Bears were able to keep them off the board in the second.

Baylor loaded the bases in the second inning after a single from Sydney Collazos, a sacrifice bunt and a bunt-single from Ana Watson put three on. After not being able to bring a run home in the second, BU re-loaded the bases in the third, drawing three walks, but again couldn't find a way to bring runners home.

Oklahoma took the 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third before Baylor got on the board for the first time in the top of the fourth when Hott homered for the second time in as many games.

After OU took the 6-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth, Baylor plated three in the top of the third to come within two runs of the Sooners.

To get things going in the sixth, Aliyah Binford ripped a two-out single through the left side before Hott was hit by a pitch to put two on for Presleigh Pilon. The shortstop then roped a two-RBI double off the wall in right field before Shaylon Govan recorded an RBI single to make it a 6-4 ballgame.

OU plated their seventh run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Bears' late comeback would fall short, as OU secured the series sweep over the Bears.
