Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 15 Baylor women's tennis fell in its first road conference match on Friday evening at the USTA National Campus to No. 23 UCF, 5-2.
The Bears (11-2, 2-1) lost the doubles point but were able to earn wins on Courts Four and One, coming up shy against the Knights (11-1, 2-0).
THE RUNDOWN
Baylor started hot with the duo of freshman
Wenfei Yu and
Zuzanna Kubacha earning a 6-3 victory on Court Three. However, the Knights responded by taking both Courts One and Two, 6-3 and 6-4 respectively.
Moving into singles, UCF's Olivia Lincer took senior
Liubov Kostenko to the wire, picking up a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win. BU answered with a Court Four win from freshman No. 85
Na Dong taking down the Knight's Jade Psnoka 7-5, 6-2.
On Court One, senior
Cristina Tiglea picked up a ranked win against No. 82 Aya El Aouni 6-4, 6-4 to tie up the match at two a piece.
Even though they won the first set in a tiebreaker, both
Kennedy Gibbs and Yu weren't able to take the second set, being forced to go set number three. While in the third set, both could not complete the comeback with Yu falling 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4 and Gibbs losing 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-3 to give UCF the win.
Playing through the match, sophomore Kubacha was in a hard fought battle but fell to UCF's No. 87 Sophia Biolay 7-5, 7-5, with the Bears losing 5-2.

BU will head to Houston to finish out their first road trip on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
