FULLERTON, Calif. - The Judi Garman Invitational didn't start kindly for the No. 9 Baylor softball team as the Bears dropped an 8-2 decision to No. 22 Arizona State and fell 11-1 to No. 3 Michigan in five innings Friday at Cal State-Fullerton.
Michigan's Kelly Christner homered twice in the nightcap, and the Wolverines took advantage of three Baylor errors in the win to improve to 21-3 on the season. Baylor (12-4) got its only run on Sydney Christensen's first college hit, a single in the fifth, to score Ari Hawkins.
In game one, the Sun Devils used four runs in each of the top of the second and fifth innings to defeat the Bears. Bethany Kemp sealed the victory early with a three-run homer in the second inning to give ASU a 4-0 lead. Lindsey Cargill's 2-run single was the Baylor offense's bright spot of the day that scored the only two runs for the Bears in the fourth inning.
BU VS. MICHIGAN NOTES
? Sydney Christensen's first collegiate hit came in the fifth inning and drove home the game's only run for Baylor as Ari Hawkins came across to score.
? Hawkins extended her on-base streak to 11 games by drawing a walk in the fifth.
? With the win, Michigan took the all-time series lead at 5-4.

? Lindsey Cargill finished 2-for-3 with two RBI to give her 11 multi-hit games and two games with multiple RBI this season.
