BENJAMIN BECKER, Orscholz, Germany (Tennis, 2001-05) – 2017
Part of Baylor’s first NCAA team championship in 2004 and arguably the best four-year run of any team sport in school history, Becker still holds the program records for career singles (141) and doubles (104) victories. In his four seasons, Baylor swept the Big 12 regular-season and tournament titles, had an overall record of 120-7, never lost a conference match and added the 2005 ITA National Indoor championship.
In 2004, Becker pulled off a rare double when he defeated Tulsa’s Michael Kogan, 6-4, 7-6(8), in the NCAA singles final just six days after Baylor rolled through UCLA, 4-0, in the team championship. A three-time singles All-American, Becker and the Bears had their run end with a 4-3 loss to UCLA in the 2005 final.
After earning more than $4 million on the pro tour, ascending to an all-time-high ranking of No. 35 in the world in 2014, Becker returned to Baylor in 2017 to finish his business degree. He is now the associate head men’s tennis coach at Michigan.
