CHARLIE BRADSHAW, Center, Texas (Football, 1956-57) – 1973

Following his high school teammate and fellow Hall of Famer – halfback Del Shofner, from Center, Texas – Bradshaw switched from end to tackle when he arrived at Baylor and played a key role on the Bears’ 1956 team that went 9-2 and upset second-ranked Tennessee, 13-7, in the Sugar Bowl.

A two-year letterman for the Bears, he was an eighth-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 1958 and played 11 years in the NFL, earning Pro Bowl nods in 1963 and ’64. Working on his law degree during the offseason, Bradshaw finished in 1965 and served for a time as president of the NFL Players Association.

Retiring at the end of the 1968 season, Bradshaw began his law practice in Houston and eventually joined fellow Baylor law school graduate Arlen “Spider” Bynum in Dallas, specializing in insurance litigation. He died in 2002 at the age of 65 of complications from cancer.
