- Induction:
- 2022
A captain on Baylor football's 10-2 Southwest Conference championship team in 1980, Field was a four-year starter in a stacked linebacking corps that included Lester Ward and All-American Mike Singletary. Earning consensus All-SWC honors that season, Doak was the team's leading tackler in the 1979 Peach Bowl and 1980 Cotton Bowl and ranks seventh all-time in career tackles (330) and third in assists (166).
Selected to play in the Hula and Japan Bowl all-star games, Field was taken in the seventh round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. The former all-state linebacker from Burnet (Texas) High School played one year with the St. Louis Cardinals and three seasons in the USFL with the Chicago Blitz and Arizona Wranglers before suffering a career-ending injury.
