Baylor Women's Tennis' Dominates Own Tournament

After an excellent showing on Friday, the Baylor women's tennis finished the tournament strong by winning two of the five singles brackets and two of the three doubles brackets on the second day of the 2000 Baylor Tennis Classic.
In "A" Singles, 13th-ranked Jahnavi Parekh and 51st-ranked Katja Kovac claimed the top two spots. The two elected not to play the final match. Sophomore Monica Gonzalez took won the "C" Singles bracket, defeating Texas Tech's Noel Ruiz 6-3, 6-1 in the final match.
Baylor's team of Kovac and Parekh won the "A" Doubles bracket, fending off UT-Arlington's Cizova and Jackson, 9-8. In "C" Doubles, Baylor's team of Gonzalez and Alison Bradley had an easier time, winning 8-2 against Cowieson and Rampen of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Most fourth round matches were not played due to weather, as the wind chill dropped the temperature into the mid 40s with overcast skies.
The next action for the Baylor women comes Oct. 14-22 at the ITA All-American Tournament in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
