Baylor Football Places Pair On Academic All-District Team

Waco, Texas - Baylor wide receiver Lanny O'Steen was named to the Verizon All-Academic District VI first team Thursday, while linebacker Jason Lary earned second-team distinction. The two automatically become eligible for the Verizona Academic All-America squad, which will be announced in the coming weeks.

O'Steen, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, has accumulated a 3.23 grade point average in business. He is the team's second-leading receiver with 16 receptions for 232 yards and a touchdown.

Lary, a senior from Amarillo, Texas, has recorded 18 tackles, including 11 solo stops, and a forced fumble as a key reserve for the Bears.

The Verizon All-Academic team is chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District VI includes all schools in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
