NORMAN, Okla. - The Baylor baseball team failed to complete the sweep of Big 12 rival Oklahoma Sunday, losing to the Sooners 12-6.
Making his first conference start, freshman right-hander Steven White (4-1) gave up six runs on six hits in four innings to get his first loss of the season. Oklahoma starter Austin Mix (5-1) earned the win, despite giving up six earned runs on seven hits in five innings of work.
Oklahoma had a 7-6 lead in the sixth inning and Baylor had runners at second and third when Steve Dorneman hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to tie the game. Oklahoma disputed the call, claiming that baserunner Mike Huggins left third base early. Baylor head coach Steve Smith argued the call, and was ejected.
With the loss, the Bears fall to 20-9 overall, 7-5 in the Big 12. Oklahoma improves to 16-12, 4-4 in conference play.
Baylor hosts fifth-ranked Houston Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Baylor Ballpark.
