Baylor Women Defeat Kansas, 6-3

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Baylor women's tennis team defeated No. 70-ranked Kansas, 6-3, to bring their record to 13-1 overall, and 6-1 in conference play.
Baylor and Kansas were tied at three points going into the deciding doubles matches, winning at No. one, two and four singles.
Playing at No. one singles, No. 22-ranked Jahnavi Parekh took KU's Brooke Chiller in strait sets, 6-3, 6-3. The No. 45-ranked Katja Kovac won the No. two singles match against Cheryl Mallaiah, 7-6, 6-4. No. 99-ranked freshman, Vida Mulec, lost her match to Monica Sekulov, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. At No. four singles, Karin Andersson defeated Tiffany Chang, 6-4, 7-6. Claudia Aguilar lost her match at No. five singles against Christi Wagenaar, 1-6, 7-6 (7), 6-3, and Fida Borjesson fell to Lisa Mallaiah, 6-2, 6-3, at No. six singles.
The teams were tied going into doubles play where the bears swept the competition.
At No. one doubles, Mulec and Kovac defeated Chiller and Chang, 8-2. Andersson and Borjesson defeated Sekulov and Wagenaar, 9-8 (2), at No. two doubles, and at No. three doubles, Parekh and Monica Gonzalez defeated C. Mallaiah and L. Mallaiah, 8-3.
The Bears take the court against Oklahoma, 1:30 p.m., on Match 24th, at the Streich Tennis Center. Results will be available on the BaylorSportsNet.com.
