Women's Tennis Defeats Texas A&M, 5-4

WACO, Texas - The Baylor students rallied around the women's tennis team as they beat Texas A&M, 5-4, in a hard fought dual match at the Marrs McLean tennis courts this afternoon.
Baylor won the top three singles matches to end singles play tied at three all.
Playing at number one singles against Martina Nedorostova, No. 8 Jahnavi Parekh dropped the first set 6-1, but fought back to take the last two sets 7-6, 6-2. At No. two singles No. 23 Katja Kovac defeated Texas A&M's Olivia Karlikova, 0-6, 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Vida Mulec Lisa Dingwail, 1-6, 6-2, 6-2. Karin Andersson was defeated by Cassia Haas at number four singles, 7-5, 6-2. At number five singles, Frida Borjesson lost to Texas A&M's Leah Killen, 6-2, 6-4, and senior Claudia Aguilar was defeated by Kathryn Scott, 6-3, 6-2.
Tied at three all, the Bears needed to win two doubles matches to beat A&M.
Parehk and Stephen were defeated by Karlikova, 8-3, at number three doubles. Court one finished second with Kovac and Mulec defeating Dingwail and Nedorostova, 8-4. The deciding match was on court two where Andersson and Borjesson defeated Haas and Scott, 8-6, to win the dual competition.
The Bears next match will be held at the Streich Tennis Center, Saturday, March 4, at 9:30 a.m.
