WACO - On the third day of two-a-day drills, the Baylor football team conducted a pair of solid practices and worked on learning some new plays.
"This morning we had a solid workout and they made some improvements," said Baylor head coach Kevin Steele. "We are in the insertion phase right now, so there will always be mistakes."
During a very hot afternoon practice session, the team continued to focus on correcting problems and learning the system.
"This afternoon was the hottest we've had, but we pushed them and they responded," Steele said. "We took off the shoulder pads toward the end and the players let up a bit. There is a lesson there. From the time we turn on the locker room light until the time we turn it off, we need to have full intensity. I spoke to them about that afterward and I think it got their attention."
The Bears will take to the practice field again Saturday for workouts at 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday's practice will be the first with pads and full contact.
