Conducting just one practice on Sunday, the Baylor football team began to show signs of improvement along the offensive line.
"We had a very good practice today," said Baylor head coach Kevin Steele. "We had mistakes, but that happens when you are installing new plays."
Steele also said that he was impressed with the tone of the practice, noting that the players were spirited and focused throughout the workout.
"The offensive line is making progress," Steele said. "They have really jelled in the last few days and they have a lot of pride. They are being respectful toward each other and being accountable. I am very pleased with the direction in which they are heading."
Meanwhile, senior defensive tackle Brandon Thompson, who was taken off the practice field in an ambulance Saturday after taking on a block, has been diagnosed with a minor neck injury. Thompson, who underwent extensive medical evaluations Saturday night, suffered no structural damage to his spinal cord and began rehabbing with a physical therapist Sunday morning. He is expected to be released from Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center later this week.
"It's encouraging news," said Steele. "We're fortunate to have an outstanding medical team working with our student-athletes."
The Bears will resume two-a-day workouts Monday with practices at 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
