HOUSTON - Baylor's Sarah Broyles and Stephanie Bennett teamed to win the women's university division at the Rice Relays, held along Buffalo Bayou Friday night.
Broyles and Bennett were the first university representatives to cross the finish line in the women's six-mile race, with a time of 32:14 in the unique cross country format that pairs runners in a relay team.
For the men, the duo of Brandon Buhr and Aaron Ward placed sixth in the university competition and 11th overall, running an eight-mile course in 39:14.
The relay event is one in which each school entered multiple two-person teams. Runners alternate running two-mile segments on the men's side and 1.5 mile segments on the women's side.
The next meet for both the Baylor teams is Sept. 25 at the Baylor Invitational in Waco.
