Bears Sweep Baylor Invitational

WACO, Texas - Baylor swept the men's and women's team titles at the 1999 Baylor Invitational, held Saturday at the Texas Farm Bureau in Waco.
Baylor freshman Beskesi Ferenc took first in the menis five mile race with a time of 25:46.68, while Ranger Junior Collegeis Sylia Chelimo won the womenis 5000 meter race by running it in 17:20.32.
The Bears had four of the top 10 finishers in the menis race and five of the top 10 women. For the Baylor men, first place winner Ferenc was followed by teammates Brandon Buhr (sixth), Jon Capron (eighth), Josh Ward (10th), Corey Dunigan (14th), Aaron Ward (21st), Brett Lamb (24th), and Alex Adler (29th).
Sarah Broyles led the Baylor women, finishing third with a time of 17:55.77. She was joined by teammates Erin Dixon (sixth), Cecilia Jeverstam (seventh), Stephanie Bennett (eighth), Kara Newton (ninth), Cynthia Henges (11th), Leah Marbach (16th), and Kim Cook (26th).
The Baylor men were followed in the team standings by McNeese State University, Northwood, UT-Pan American, and the University of North Texas.
The Baylor women, who won the event for the fourth year in a row, were followed by McNeese State, UT-Pan Am, North Texas, Ranger JC, and Northwood.
The next action for the Bears comes at the Oklahoma State Invitational in Stillwater, Okla. on October 2.
