BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Baylor's Karin Ernstrom finished 22nd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, run Monday, November 22 on the campus of the University of Indiana.
Ernstrom ran the 5,000 meter event in 17:15.20, 36 seconds behind individual champion Erica Palmer of Wisconsin. Her finish was the fourth best ever for a Baylor runner at the NCAA Championships and earned her all-America honors.
This was Ernstrom's third consecutive NCAA Championship race. In 1997, she finished 47th. In 1998, she came in 46th.
Ernstrom qualified for the event by placing third at the 1999 NCAA Regional. The Baylor women's team placed third at the regional, as the top two teams advanced to the NCAA Championships.
