With the end of two-a-day practices in sight, the Baylor football team conducted its first scrimmage Tuesday.

"I was a little disappointed because we were not focused," said Baylor head coach Kevin Steele. "Our offensive line had too many holding penalties."

The defense performed well in the scrimmage, with big plays by Odell James and Daniel Wilturner. Wilturner broke up a pass and intercepted a pass from Greg Cicero.

Offensively, Cicero had an 18-yard run early in the scrimmage and went 4-8 with 41 yards passing. Running back Elijah Burkins broke free for a 48-yard gain and scored the only touchdown of the day.

"This scrimmage was not something we did for the fans," said Steele "We are nearing the end of two-a-days and you are not going to see a guy light up the scoreboard. The purpose of this scrimmage was to see how each player is playing and evaluate their techniques."

The Bears return to the practice field Wednesday with practices at 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
