Waco, Texas - Reserve quarterback Michael Odum completed 14-of-22 passes for 185 yards Saturday night as Baylor wrapped its preseason training camp with a public scrimmage at Floyd Casey Stadium as part of Fanfest 2000.

"We purposely limited what we did tonight because we wanted to stress fundamentals and execution," Head Coach Kevin Steele said. "We're only 12 days away from our first game, so we didn't want to show a lot of the things we have installed during an open scrimmage."

Numerous Bear starters saw limited action in order to give reserves more playing time. Despite battling a stomach virus, first-team quarterback Greg Cicero led the offense on a six-play scoring drive in his only series. He completed both pass attempts for 33 yards.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Guy Tomcheck threw the only scoring pass of the scrimmage, hooking up with Randy Davis for a 37-yard strike. Tomcheck was 4-of-13 for 60 yards.

True freshman Jonathon Golden led all backs with 58 yards on 15 carries, while Elijah Burkins gained 47 yards on six attempts, including touchdown runs of four and 20 yards.

John Martin, Shane Williams and Davis each had three receptions.

Baylor also chose captains Saturday, naming seniors Kris Micheaux, Daniel Wilturner and Darrell Bush.

The Bears open the season Aug. 31 with a 7 p.m. game at North Texas.
