COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Baylor softball team saw its five-game winning streak come to a halt on Sunday as the Bears lost at Missouri, 3-2.
The Bears (27-29, 7-11 Big 12) led 2-0 early. In the third, Baylor put together two infield hits, a sacrifice bunt, and a sac fly for a 1-0 lead. In the fourth, the Bears added one more run on a solo home run by Ryan Stukel, her eighth of the year.
Missouri (31-25, 6-11 Big 12) answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth off Baylor pitcher Joni Miller (14-11). Second baseman Lindsey Jacoby's two-RBI single tied the game at 2-2 after four innings.
In the sixth, Missouri's Linda Swarts doubled with one out and advanced to third on a passed ball. With two away, Dara Throneberg singled in Swarts to give Missouri the lead.
Baylor put two runners on with two outs, and it looked like the game might go into extra innings when Stukel reached on an error by the pitcher. Pinchrunner Vanessa VandeBurgt was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second on the play to end the game.
The Bears have almost two weeks off before they travel to Oklahoma City for the Big 12 Softball Tournament, which begins May 10.
