WACO, Texas - Tim Hobby, head coach of Baylor's men's golf program, won the 2000 Northern Texas PGA Club Championship at Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington Tuesday.
Hobby shot rounds of 67 and 68 to finish with a four-shot victory, his second NTPGA championship.
The four-year coach has led his alma mater to national prominence, evidenced by the Bears' No. 24 national ranking at the close of the 1999-2000 season. With Hobby's guidance last season, the Bears won five tournaments (Greg May Honda/ Baylor Invitational, Southwest Texas Classic, UTSA Invitational, El Diablo Intercollegiate and Border Olympics) and finished in the top five in nine out of 12 tournaments.
Hobby and the Bears begin play Sept. 10, at the Kiawah Island Invitational in Charleston, S.C.
