WACO, Texas - The Baylor football varsity reported to campus Monday, while the newcomers completed their final day of workouts.

"The freshmen have been practicing very well, but the newness has worn off and the new energy is gone, so the timing is right for the freshman-only practices to come to an end," said Baylor head coach Kevin Steele.

While they were required to report Monday, most of the varsity spent the summer in Waco completing summer school courses and working out with teammates.

"They worked extremely hard this summer," Steele said. "Now we've just got to transfer that hard work to the playing field."

The varsity will join the freshmen on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. when two-a-day practices begin.
