WACO, Texas - The Baylor Athletic Department is giving 10,000 ticket vouchers for the Sept. 23 football game against South Florida to local youth organizations and select schools in the community, Associate Athletic Director of Corporate Sales and Marketing Darryl Lehnus announced Monday.
"Going to a Baylor football game is a huge event in the lives of these kids. They get to see the color, pageantry, action and the game. It is something that they do not take for granted and look forward to every year," said Bubba Myers of Boys & Girls Club in Waco.
Big Brother Big Sisters, Mission Waco's Alpha Quest, the Mental Health - Mental Retardation Center, Boys & Girls Club and select schools in the area are among recipients of a portion of the 10,000 ticket vouchers.
"This is a great opportunity for our kids. It gives them dreams and visions for the future. They see a world they may never experience otherwise," said Elias Garcia of Mission Waco's Alpha Quest.
"Without the generosity of Baylor, these kids would not have this chance. Baylor should be commended on their outreach to young people who very much appreciate the opportunity," Myers said.
