WACO - Despite searing temperatures of 109 degrees, the Baylor football team conducted one of its best practices of the season Monday.

"We told them in meetings that we were going to work them hard today," head coach Kevin Steele said. "They came out and had their minds on their business and got things done. They worked their tails off."

Although the practice field was extremely hot, the Bears were able to run drills and work on plays for 90 minutes.

"We've had such a run with the heat and we have really been working on hydrating often," said Steele. "We also take a lot of little breaks and, consequently, they're well adjusted to the heat."

Baylor (1-0) has the weekend off and will host Minnesota in an 11:30 a.m. game on September 16.
