Waco, Texas - Despite this weekend's open date, Baylor football is working like a team short on practice time. The Bears spent two hours under the hot Central Texas sun Tuesday, preparing for its Sept. 16 home opener against Big Ten foe Minnesota in temperatures which reached 109 degrees.

"We worked against each other in some blitz situations and some overall team stuff against Minnesota," Head Coach Kevin Steele said. "It was a normal, Tuesday game-week preparation practice."

After a spirited Monday practice, Steele noticed the fatigue beginning to set in late during Tuesday's workout. He interrupted practice for conditioning drills during the final special teams segment due to mistakes.

"It got a little bit sloppy at the end. We've had two tough days back-to-back in the heat. We had to refocus a little bit there at the end."

The Baylor-Minnesota game is set for an 11:30 a.m. kickoff. It will be televised regionally to a syndicated audience as the Big 12 Game of the Week. Check local listings for stations carrying the game.
