Waco, Texas - Baylor senior Katja Kovac was thwarted in her bid for back-to-back singles titles at the Omni Hotels Southwest Tennis Championships Monday on the TCU campus in Fort Worth.
After reeling off seven straight singles victories in the tournament, Kovac's march was stopped by Houston's Sarah Borwell. In the finals, Kovac, seeded second in the tournament, lost to Borwell, the tournament's No. 3 seed, 6-0, 6-4. Both Borwell and Kovac qualify for the Omni Hotels National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships to be held at Bookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas from Nov. 8-11.
