Baylor To Host Men's Collegiate Golf Tournament Monday

WACO, Texas -- - Baylor's men's golf team will host the fourth-annual Henry Griffitts/Baylor Invitational Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 29-30, at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco.
The tournament boasts a competitive 18-team field that includes Baylor, Louisiana Lafayette, Rice, Southwest Texas, Arkansas-Little Rock, North Texas, Nebraska, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, Texas-Arlington, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas State, Wichita State, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M, Belmont and New Mexico.
Arkansas-Little Rock, Baylor, Illinois, Kansas State, Lamar and New Mexico are all top-60 ranked teams, according to Golfstat.com.
The format of the Invitational consists of 54 holes beginning with a practice round on Sunday, two rounds of 18 holes Monday beginning at 8 a.m., and a final round Tuesday beginning at 8:15 a.m.
Ridgewood is a 6,500-yard, par 70 course situated near Lake Waco.
Southeastern Louisiana won the Baylor Invitational last year, edging out Louisiana-Lafayette by two strokes. Baylor senior Jimmy Walker was the individual medallist after shooting a 4-under 206.
Baylor won the tournament by 12 strokes in 1999 and Iowa State won the inaugural tournament in 1998.
In Baylor's last outing, the Bears finished fourth of 15 teams at the Purina Classic in Columbia, Mo. The team was led by freshman Ryan Baca who finished tied for fourth overall.
