DALLAS, Texas - From time to time Mike Bourland of Fort Worth and Bill Ferguson of Richardson, co-captains of the 1965 Baylor football team, have been meeting for breakfast and an opportunity to talk about the old days.

They decided this year to share the fun and comradeship with others from the team that went 5-5 under head football coach John Bridgers and on Sept. 25 were joined at the Holiday Inn Select South in Irving by fellow offensive teammate Knox Pittard and defensive players David Anderson, Dwight Hood and Greg Pipes.

Also present were former line coach Herb Zimmerman and "B" Association Executive Vice President Dutch Schroeder, who was the Baylor baseball coach in 1965.

Schroeder said he was invited to the event to serve as a referee in case the offense and defense had a disagreement. "The stories were great and - of course - none were enhanced in any way despite the passage of time," he added.

Zimmerman told his old players that after leaving Baylor's coaching ranks he now lives between two of Dallas' most prestigious golf courses. "But he assured us," Schroeder said, "that he only plays one course at a time."

Plans were made to meet again for a breakfast in about two months. Baylor football players from the mid-'60s who would like to join them should contact Bill Ferguson at 972-345-5223 (office) or 972-231-9711(residence) or Mike Bourland at 817-877-1088 (office) or 817-735-8465 (residence).
