Softball Ranks 21st in Attendance for 2001 Season

WACO, Texas - Baylor's softball team finished 21st nationally in total attendance for the 2001 season, according to a report released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. A total of 5,581 fans turned out to see the Lady Bears tie the school record for wins in a season, going 38-22 in their first season under the direction of head coach Glenn Moore.

Arizona led all teams at 46,499, followed by Fresno State (34,151) and Arizona State (14,068). Fresno State was the national leader in per-game attendance at 2,134.

Baylor was one of six schools from the Big 12 Conference ranked in the top 25. Oklahoma (13,324) was fourth, Texas (12,293) was sixth, Texas A&M (9,306) was ninth, Nebraska (5,691) was 20th and Texas Tech (5,430) was 24th. The Pac-10 Conference and the Southeastern Conference each had four representatives in the top 25.

The Lady Bears will open their 2002 season Feb. 1-3, hosting the Getterman Classic.
