Waco, Texas - Baylor conducted its second day of spring football drills Thursday in cool temperatures and overcast skies, working for over two hours in shorts.
"The NCAA says that the first two days have to be in shorts," Head Coach Kevin Steele said, "but it's not like you can't get things done. There are some timing things we can do and some new wrinkles offensively that we have in and some things that we've expanded on defense that we can work on."
"Our players have displayed a very good work ethic and a great attitude. Although we're still a little young, we do have some experience, which helps on the practice field. This is the first time we've been able to put a group in the huddle, call a defense and have instant recognition. They're displaying a lot of retention where we're not having to re-teach things."
The Bears will don pads for the first time Friday and have their first full-contact practice Saturday morning. Baylor will conduct a total of 15 spring practice sessions, culminating with the annual Green-Gold Game on Mar. 24.
