#14 Women's Tennis Tops Texas Tech

WACO, Texas - The 14th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team has now won 17 straight matches at home, dating to April 1999. The Bears defeated the Red Raiders 6-1 Saturday afternoon at Marrs McLean Tennis Courts.
The Bears (9-2, 3-0 Big 12) won doubles and took five singles matches to defeat the Red Raiders. The Baylor women are now 48-7 at home since entering Big 12 play. Texas Tech gained their single point when their No. 1 singles player, Irina Tereschenko, defeated 26th-ranked Jahnavi Parekh.
In doubles, No. 2 Karin Andersson and Frida Borjesson continued on their win streak increasing their record to 10-1. Monica Gonzalez and Alison Bradley battled for the No. 3 doubles win with a score of 9-7.
Baylor's Karin Andersson is now tied for third place in school history for career singles wins with 83. Junior Katja Kovac, ranked No. 19 in the nation, took over second place alone in school history for career single wins with her victory at the No. 2 position. Kovac is now six wins behind all-time leader Rachel Forney.
The Bears' next action comes March 10th when they host Kansas. The match is set for 1:30 p.m.
