Waco, Texas - Bitterly cold conditions accompanied the Baylor football team's spring practice session Wednesday, but the Bears were able to overcome the elements and please head coach Kevin Steele with their two-hour workout.
"It was cold out there today," Steele said, "and the players just blocked it out and played the game. And they played it at a high level."
The Bears used Wednesday as one of their 50-50 days allowed by the NCAA, in which half the practice can be full contact.
"We got a lot of good individual work done and worked on some position skills. There was high enthusiasm and spirit and a lot of competition. Some big plays were made out there today.
"There are some things that we've been working on for a long time and they're finally starting to come to fruition."
The last hour of practice was split equally working full speed on blitzes and goal-line situations.
Baylor returns to the practice field Friday before taking a week-long hiatus for Spring Break. The Bears will conduct a total of 15 spring practice sessions, culminating with the annual Green-Gold Game on Mar. 24.
