Waco, Texas - The first-team defense and quarterbacks grabbed head coach Kevin Steele's attention Monday as Baylor began its final week of spring football practice with a two-hour workout.

"The first-team defense is really starting to play well, both individually and as a unit," Steele said. "They have progressed to a point where they are challenging our offense to step up their play.

"Our quarterbacks have also begun to really grasp some of the new things we're doing on offense, and that's allowed us to accelerate some of the things we're installing."

The Bears spent much of Monday's practice working on correcting mistakes from last Saturday's scrimmage and concentrating on recognition and execution.

Baylor practices again Wednesday and Thursday before conducting the annual Green-Gold Game Saturday at 1 p.m.
