WACO, Texas - Chris Durbin's two-out double to left-center in the bottom of the ninth drove in Trevor Mote to give Baylor a 3-2 win Friday night at Baylor Ballpark. With the win in game one of the three game series, Baylor improves to 13-4 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.
Steven White threw a complete game, giving up only two hits to improve his record to 4-0 on the season. White struck out seven and walked seven in his first complete game of the season.
Missouri (3-6-1, 0-4) jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. After retiring the first two batters of the inning, White walked Jon Williams. After a Mick Weiss single and a walk to Cody Ehlers, Wes Fewell singled to drive in two runs.
Baylor answered in the bottom of the first with two runs of its own. After singles by Trevor Mote and Kelly Shoppach, Paul Richmond drove in Mote with a single to right. Mike Huggins then singled to center to drive in Shoppach and tied the game at 2-2.
The game remained tied until Durbin's game-winning double in the bottom of the ninth.
Game two of the series will be at 3:00 p.m Saturday at Baylor Ballpark.
